Frequently asked questions
What is CollectORbuild?
CollectORbuild is an independent marketplace for LEGO sets, parts, and minifigures. It brings together a catalog of more than 100,000 items and the live inventory of many independent sellers, so you can search one place, compare prices, and buy from whichever seller has what you need.
How do I buy LEGO on CollectORbuild?
Search or browse the catalog, open any set, part, or minifigure to see live offers from different sellers, and add the ones you want to your cart, even across multiple sellers at once. Each offer shows the price, condition, and any seller notes so you can compare before you buy.
Am I protected as a buyer?
Yes. Every order is covered by buyer protection: if an item never arrives or isn't as described, you document the problem and open a claim. You and the seller try to resolve it first; if you can't, a CollectORbuild admin reviews the evidence from both sides and decides the outcome. A refund is one possible decision when the documentation supports it, not an automatic payout, which keeps the process fair to honest buyers and sellers alike. CollectORbuild does not hold your payment in escrow; protection comes from this dispute process and your payment method's own safeguards.
Can I sell my LEGO on CollectORbuild?
Yes. Open a store, then list individual parts, minifigures, and sets, or import an existing inventory from a BrickLink or BrickStore file. Seller tools cover bulk editing, storage bins, pricing, part-out, and pick-and-pack, so a large inventory is manageable.
How and when do sellers get paid?
Buyers pay sellers directly at checkout. CollectORbuild never holds your money or makes you wait for a payout window: the sale is yours immediately, minus CollectORbuild's fee. You stay the merchant of record for your own orders, set your own store policies, and handle your own refunds when a dispute calls for one.
How does the cheapest-basket build optimizer work?
Give CollectORbuild a want list, or the parts missing from a set you're trying to complete, and the multi-store optimizer finds the lowest total cost across all sellers, including each seller's shipping, rather than overpaying at a single store. It's designed to complete builds for the least money overall.
What condition are items in?
Sellers list items as new or used and can add condition notes, so you can see exactly what you're buying before you commit. Images are shown color-accurate to the specific part and color wherever possible.
Where does the catalog data come from?
The catalog is seeded from Rebrickable's community data dumps and enriched over time. CollectORbuild does not scrape other marketplaces; catalog data comes from licensed and community sources.
Is CollectORbuild affiliated with the LEGO Group?
No. CollectORbuild is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the LEGO Group. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group; product names and references are used for identification only.
